Call Of The Ocean
The call of the ocean is inside all of us. As an island nation and a small one at that, the furthest point from the nearest coastline is just over 60 miles.
Our very make up is constructed of mainly water, so is it any wonder the majority of people living in Ireland have a general desire to be near water.
Personally, I live to be near the ocean, every spare minute I can put together the coastline would be my go-to place an escape if you will.
After finishing several meetings with interior designers in the Limerick area it was understandable my thoughts turned to the gallery shoot list and the closest point on that very specific list.
Lahinch in Co. Clare is a wonderful coastal town full of colour, vibrance and a magnificent stretch of beach which is a haven for surfers, that literally sits on the town and stretches off North flanked by Lahinch Golf Course and the ocean.
You may have also noticed that my work is travelling in a distinctly abstract direction and to this end, I found myself on the road to the Clare seaside town full of anticipation.
With my enthusiasm, I forgot how busy the town would be and it didn’t disappoint in that regard, thousands of people enjoying the stunning clean ocean air in the warm sunshine. Moreover when I arrived the town was experiencing a very high tide being helped by a strong westerly pushing the breaking waves even higher up along the sea defences.
Working quickly with nature’s elements and the many people all hoarding into a limited walking area, my abstract ideas quickly came to the forefront of my thoughts and the results of which some are here, are I think you will agree stunning.
I am excited by my new direction into the world of abstract minimalism, but I also love leaving just enough in the capture for my clients to identify the spaces I am working in.
Call of the Ocean as an individual limited edition art piece is available in The Gallery 21 or on our website.
This capture is the flagship to the gallery collection I am completing at the moment, a collection that is dedicated to that yearning for the ocean that most of us experience.
If you have any thoughts or questions we would to hear from you.
